MISSION STATEMENT
A History Of Service
The Dudley Lions Club is a group of 40 plus men and women who pool their talents on behalf of local human needs and also support the great humanitarian efforts in the largest service organization in the world - Lions Clubs International. The club holds a dinner and business meeting twice each month, on the first and third Monday, at Lic's Restaurant in Webster Massachusetts. Our members are organized in teams for various fund raising and community projects. The club is managed by a president and board of directors. For years we have helped those in need to get sight and hearing exams and to obtain eyeglasses and hearing aids. Through the Lions International Organization, the club contributes money each year to eyesight research projects and the international campaign to prevent and treat blindness. We provide financial support for the statewide organ donor program, the Lions Sight-Mobile in this area, the Sight and Hearing Foundation and the fight against diabetes. With our two well-placed eyeglass recepticles in the town, we have collected and recycled thousands of used eyeglasses (since September 2001) for those in other countries who cannot otherwise afford them. Some of our youth programs include funding two student players to the Lions All State Band, our annual speech contest, a peace poster contest for young teens, providing scholarships for Dudley youth, working with the Shepherd Hill non-users group, and the sponsorship of little league baseball in Dudley Massachusetts. The Lions Club built and maintains the Lions Pavillion on West Main Street in Dudley as a resting spot and weather shelter for Dudley citizens. We are proud sponsors of the Dudley Leos Club, for students 12 to 18 years of age. They meet every other Thursday and are highly involved in community service.
You Can Make A Difference
Since 1917, Local Lions Clubs have offered people just like youthe opportunity to give something back to their community. Today, with over 1.4 million men and women in more than 180 countries, Lions have expanded their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of our society.
As a member of a Lions Club, you become aware of the needs of our community and have the opportunity to make a difference. Our club provides volunteers with project management assistance, leadership training, personal development oportunities and organized fund raising programs. Being a Lion will empower you to help others in a way that no other person could do alone.
People with vision problems, the growing senior community, our youth and the disadvantaged need your help. You can make a difference. By participating in the Dudley Lions Club, you can help meet the pressing needs in our community and throughout the world.
For more information regarding Lionism and or membership, please contact Lion Mike Wilson, President at 508-943-9343.
